Link to Life Installer- The Agency Offers Both Link to Life, Project Life and R-U-OK Technology to Monitor Home Bound and Frail County Residents.
Senior Dining Program- The Agency Contracts with Delaware Opportunities to Provide Both Congregate and Home Delivered Meals for County Residents, 60 Years of Age and Older and Their Spouses. Working Out of Six Dining Centers, the Program is a County-Wide Service.
AARP Tax-Aid Counselors- Specially Trained Volunteer Tax Counselors Assist Seniors in Completing Federal and State Income Tax Returns. The Program Runs from February 1st to April 15th of Each Year.
Non-Emergency Medical Transportation- Our Organization Offers Limited Transportation to Assist Non-Medicaid Older Adults in Need of Access to Health Related Services Such as Regularly Scheduled Doctor's Appointments, Labs and Pharmaceutical Services.
AARP "Driver Safety Courses"- The AARP Driver Safety Program for Mature Drivers Helps Participants Improve Their Driver Safety Awareness. Most Insurance Companies Offer a Premium Discount for Drivers who have Successfully Completed this Course. New Volunteer Instructors are always welcomed.
Bus Service- The Office for the Aging Operates a Limited Fixed Route Bus System. It Transports Elders to Larger Communities Both Within the County and Beyond so that they can Access Shopping, Medical and Personal Business Services.
Language Line Services- For Clients Calling our Agency Regarding Programs and Services and who have Limited Understanding or Ability to Speak English, the Staff Members have Access to a Telephone Translation Service to Assist with Communication with our Clients. Many Languages are Available. There is no Cost to Clients for this Service.
Agency Advisory Board- The Delaware County Office for the Aging Receives Direction from the Agency's Advisory Board. Members Include Representatives from the Senior Council, Supervisors from the County Board, Representatives from Other Agencies and Members from the Greater Delaware County Community.
Information and Referral- In Order to Assist Seniors and Their Advocates in Overcoming Difficulties, Our Well Trained Staff is Prepared to Provide a Wide Variety of Information. In Situations Where Another Agency or Organization Would be Better Suited to Provide Assistance, we will Refer Our Clients and Follow Up to Make Sure That the Client's Needs are Addressed.
The Dispatch- The Office for the Aging Publishing a Bimonthly Newspaper. It Contains Information About Programs, Services, Events, Legislation, and Other Topics of Special Interest to the Elder Community.
EISEP- (Expanded In-Home Service for the Elderly Program). This Program Assists Frail and Homebound Elders in Living Safely in Their Own Homes by Providing Personal Care and Housekeeping Services. Payment for these Services is Assessed on a Sliding Fee Basis. Case-Management is Available at no Cost.
Loan Closet- We Have an Inventory of Wheelchairs, Walkers, Commodes etc. Available for Loan to Delaware County Residents.
Nutrition Counseling- Through Our Subcontract with Registered Dieticians, Nutrition Counseling Services can be Provided to any County Resident, 60 Years of Age and Older.
Health & Wellness Activities- We Work Closely With Other County Organizations to Develop and Operate a Variety of Health and Wellness Activities. Seniors are Encouraged to Participate in Water Exercise, Tai-Chi Classes, and Walking Programs.
Health Insurance Counseling- The Office for the Aging has HIICAP (Health Insurance Information, Counseling & Assistance Program) staff available to assist clients with EPIC(Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage), Medicare Part D Prescription Plans, Medicare Savings Programs, Medicare Advantage Plans, Understanding Insurance Claims and Medical Bills, and Answering Questions Regarding Health Insurance and Medicare.
Legal Services- The Office for the Aging Contracts with Legal Services of Mid New York to Provide Legal Assistance to County Elders. This Service is Free and Covers Most Non-Income Generating Legal Activity.
HEAP- (Home Energy Assistance Program). The HEAP Program Provides Benefits to Lower Income Persons Over 60 to Assist them in Paying for Home Heating Related Costs.
Farmers Market Coupons- The Agency Distributes Farmers Market Coupons to Eligible Senior Households During the Summer Months.
