The Delhi Senior Community is a non-assisted living home to 45 senior citizens. The Service Coordinator, Lara Yambor, coordinates services by assessing the needs of the residents and assisting to meet those needs so that the resident can maintain independent living with the highest degree of self responsibility and quality of life possible. Residents can be connected with appropriate services such as in-home Aid Services, Public Assistance (HEAP, SNAP, Medicaid), Senior Meals, and Transportation. The Service Coordinator also keeps residents informed on ways that they can save money such as enrolling in the Energy Assistance Program, Life Line, and obtaining Farmer's Market coupons.
Events and Efforts at the Delhi Senior Community
Local pharmacist Erin Kingsbury visited residents to both answer questions regarding medications, and also to hold a "Brown Bag Session" where residents had the opportunity to bring their medications and privately discuss their prescriptions with the pharmacist.
A "Winter Blues Workshop" was an informative workshop discussing what causes winter blues, and ways to combat winter blues.
Book magnifiers were demonstrated and offered for sale to residents at a very reasonable rate. The magnifiers are very useful for reading small print on books, papers, medicine bottles, sewing, or anything else that is difficult to see.
A "Rummage Day" was organized, allowing residents to browse and select from a variety of gently used, free clothing.
A Notary was arranged to come and sign resident HUD forms.
The Service Coordinator Lara Yambor is available to meet with residents Tuesday through Friday, to assist with requests in understanding correspondence, filling out applications and re-certifications, and often to just sit and chat with residents. You can contact The Service Coordinator at 7 Main Street in Delhi NY 13753 (607) 746-8142.
